Ash series

The artist behind the various painting series takes a personal and introspective approach to art by, among other things, burning books and documents that have a special meaning. The ash that arises from this process becomes a central element in the paintings, as a symbol of both destruction and creation.
By varying the use of different forms of expression, all rooted in language, either by ash or by using Braille, cultural borders and figurative writing, the artist challenges conventional understandings of language and communication. This creates a layer of mystery and inaccessibility, where language is no longer just a tool for communication, but also an object for reflection and artistic exploration.

The inspiration from literary works such as "Don Quixote" and "Sofia's world" are not evident in the paintings, but through the physical ashes and the title a connection is made.

By including glitter, or "angel dust", the artist adds an element of the divine and magical, as a contrast to the ash's symbolism of impermanence.
The series is deeply rooted in the artist's academic background and long-standing fascination with the philosophy of language and communication theories, which was deepened through the master's education with a focus on Merleau-Ponty and Wittgenstein. It reflects an ongoing exploration of how language functions as a medium for human interaction and how it can be transformed into a visual and conceptual work of art.
The paintings are a meditative process and an artistic journey that invites the viewer to think about the role of language in our understanding of the world and each other
